Award in Direct Emergency Rescue and Recovery of Casualties

About this Course

This unit is for anyone who directs the activities of a team for rescue or recovery within a confined space. This may include rescue team leader, coordinator, entry controller / top person or supervisor in relation to the rescue and recovery of casualties from a confined space.

The course will cover planning and preparing for emergency operations, mobilising rescue teams, directing and monitoring rescue activities and reporting and securing sites following an incident or emergency. The course will look at the best use of rescue equipment and methods to employ during an
emergency.

Pre Entry Requirements

All persons taking this qualification must have successfully completed and hold current certificate for the 6160-03 Confined space High Risk course and the 6160-08 Member of a Rescue and Recovery Team in Confined Spaces.

Assessment Criteria

The assessment will consist of a practical observation during a team exercise and a short answer question paper.
